Iron Overload Illness: Hemochromatosis – Part 12 (cont’d)
#11 – Vitamin D: The Sunshine Vitamin –
Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is a fat-soluble vitamin that is super important for calcium absorption.
Unless our body gets a certain minimum of direct sun (estimated at 15-20 minutes daily), without sunscreen, then it’s not getting enough vitamin D for our needs.
Through an interesting series of cellular chemical reactions, the ultraviolet rays from the sun cause our skin to produce natural vitamin D.
While its’ true that too much sun can lead to skin cancer, just the right amount of sun enables our body to generate Vitamin D3 that is our natural safeguard against many different types of cancer, bone degeneration, glandular processes, mood balancing, and more.
Sunscreen, while protective, and if always applied, hinders these important bodily processes, however.
