Blenders versus Juice Extractors – Which one is Better ?

Hi !

My name is Alannah, and WELCOME to Alannah, Your Health Detective.

Have you ever wondered what the real difference is between blenders and juice extractors? And when and why you should consider one over the other ?

So here’s my best advice.

And where does this advice come from ?

It comes from the fact that I’ve been doing this almost daily for the past 7 years now.

And I’ve had different needs at different times.

I also have both an extraction juicer and a high-powered blender so I’ve been able to see the advantages and disadvantages of both.

So let me get into it.

Benefits of an Extraction Juicer:

When you have a severe illness (as you do), there are incredible benefits that happen with pure juice.  I mean, I N C R E D I B L E  benefits !!!

Wheatgrass

(See Ann Wigmore’s Autobiography as just one of many examples.)  All of the fiber is removed and the pure juice gets absorbed directly into the blood stream, bypassing the normal digestive route. If the blend of vegetables is just right, you can experience very rapid healing.

I actually started my juicing days about 18 years ago with a centrifugal extraction juicer.  It worked quite well and the price was within my budget.  Here’s a link to an affordable version (this link is provided for your easy access; I make nothing from your purchase should you decide to buy through this link) to a unit similar to my first Braun™ juice extractor.

If a higher quality juicer is more of interest to you, one that you can also make nut butters or frozen fruit sorbets with, in addition to being an excellent juicer for vegetables and even wheatgrass and barley grass, then this juicer will meet your needs (I have this one) for many, many years.  It’s a work horse and will last you for a very, very long time.  It can also be used to make sorbets, purées, pasta, and nut butters.

Green Fruit & Vegetable Smoothie

The quality of extracted juice is very high because the extraction is done at low speed and the juice is not heated in the slightest during the extraction process.

It also juices wheatgrass and/or barley grass very well.

HOWEVER…

It does take more vegetables to make the same volume of juice that can be made with fewer vegetables/fruit in a high-speed blender.

Choosing an extraction juicer versus a high-speed blender DEPENDS on:

  • what your objective is,
  • how quickly you want to restore your health,

AND

  • how much you can afford in the way of vegetables/fruit.

Benefits of a High-Speed High-Powered Blender/Smoothie Maker:

As with the Extraction Juicer, the benefits of a rightly balanced smoothie blend are truly I N C R E D I B L E as regards the healing benefits that can occur when you drink them on a regular and preferably, daily basis.

The obvious difference between their end results, though, is that with the blender, you retain all of the fiber.

The right kind of blender:

I’ve had the opportunity to try a variety of blenders over the years, some of which I’ve had to return (at least I was able to return them….yeah) because the results were not as hoped.

In addition to this experience, I’ve also done some additional research into blenders currently available and I can tell you, it’s rather challenging, and in some ways, overwhelming and confusing.

After making my comparisons, though, and reading dozens of reviews, and considering the finer details on about 8 different models out there, in addition to my own, I actually thought that I had found one that was better than the current one I have.

But in effect, what it wound up providing me with was one of the criteria for my selection (or rather, elimination) process.

While at first glance it appeared great, and even according to the reviews I was reading, I thought that it would be a really good one for you.

It seemed to meet “all” of my criteria, after all, but then…

I saw the problem—you’ll find out what it is when you get down to the fourth criterion.

NOW, if you’re ready, let’s get into this…

Buying a blender can indeed be a confusing task.

After all, how can you tell which one is going to give you the results you’re hoping for ?

What Are You Looking For in a Blender ?

Do you prefer thick smoothies ?

Or thin, more juice-like smoothies ?

Does it have a sufficiently big blender container ?

Not just that, you see some with 600 watts, others with 700, 800 and 900 watts, still others with 1,000, 1,100, 1,200, and more.  Which one should you choose ?

And what’s your budget ?  What can you afford ?

And finally, will paying more get you the smoothie results that you’re hoping for ?

The RIGHT Blender for You

It’s fairly safe to say that most any blender can make a smoothie.

And if you like milkshake thick smoothies, then practically any blender will do.

If, however, you’re looking to get a smoothie with a wonderfully smooth, almost juice-like consistency, then there are a few factors that the blender you choose will need to have in order for you to achieve those results.

And amazingly, you won’t have to spend several hundred dollars to do so.

What you WILL need to factor in, though, are…
